"Gambit", Channing Tatum movie is currently in "inactive development," says its possible director, Simon Kinberg. However, recent update hints when the movie begins its filming.
'Gambit' Movie In 'Inactive Development' Until Now
According to reports from Comicbook, the original release date of "Gambit" is in November of last year. However, the production for the movie never happened. Turning it into a hanging anticipated superhero movie of Marvel as of 2016.
Now, recent news suggests that it could still be the status. Simon Kinberg ("Deadpool", "X-Men") reveals that it is in "inactive development" as of today.
It is a total setback for the fans of this characters. After losing two directors (Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt) in the span of its previous development, Kinberg, who is said to be leading the list of the possible final director, assures fans of Channing Tatum's commitment.
"The process has been that Channing is as determined about getting the character right as Ryan Reynolds was about Deadpool and Hugh (Jackman) was about this Logan movie," says Kinberg.
Furthermore, he notes "we know that when we get those right, the movie succeeds so we want to make sure we get Gambit right because we want him to be the beginning of a whole new franchise."
'Gambit', Channing Tatum Movie Starts Filming In This Year...
The same site reports, "Gambit" might possibly start shooting next year. As per Kinberg's interview, he hopes all things are ready by the end of the year and eventually starts filming.
Though it still unsure if the movie will push through in the year 2018, he assures the film "is going to happen".
Meanwhile, about Tatum, Kinberg tells LRM that the actor has been a "really critical part of the process". Meaning to say, the director hopes that given Tatum's hectic schedule, they still hope that "Gambit" can be inserted in his workloads. In this way, there is a high chance to start developing the film and can be laid out for shooting next year.
