According to Comicbook Movie, Tom Cruise's character, Nick Morton, landed the big role in the upcoming reboot project of "Van Helsing".
As crazy as it gets, the report even noted that Nick Morton may, in fact, be the legendary hunter's descendant. Not to mention, another claim says that he might be Van Helsing "in disguise".
Though the connection sounds a bit off, when it comes to the movie world, everything is possible. As of the moment, there has been no confirmation about Cruise's involvement or Nick's character in the movie. What is known so far is the reboot is currently in the works.
Dan Mazeau To Pen 'Van Helsing Reboot', Eric Heisserer Talks Movie
As for other details, screenwriter Dan Mazeau is set to pen the upcoming reboot. He is known for his "Wrath of the Titans" story. Adding on, he has also written the scripts for "The Flash".
Meanwhile, another name has been dragged to the reboot project, Eric Heisserer. In his interview with Collider, Heisserer admits that he still has no idea on what the story will look like. However, what he wants to make sure that his intention for the reboot is to make it as scary as possible.
Heisserer seems pretty confident about the "scary" concept as he noted, "partly because I know how to do that". Adding on, he also pointed out Van Helsing's situation in the story which gives him the impression that the story should be really scary.
"...also because when you're the only human surrounded by a bunch of supernatural creatures, that's gotta be absolutely unnerving," says Heisserer.
Aside from Mazeau and Heisserer, Jon Spaihts will also co-write the "Van Helsing Reboot" draft.
For starters, "Van Helsing" is a story of a legendary monster hunter who is sent to Transylvania. The place is haunted by Count Dracula and his brides who use Dr. Frankenstein's research for some sinister purpose that includes his unborn children.
