Apple is reportedly ready to go ahead with its 4.7-inch iPhone 6, as a Taiwanese newspaper has learned Pegatron will produce 50 million total devices.

According to MacRumors' translation of the report from the Industrial and Commercial Times, Pegatron has received 15 percent of Apple's iPhone 6 orders. The report also contradicted previous rumors that the smartphones launch will be delayed, stating the next iPhone will be released in Sept.

However, the report said the 4.7-inch screen version of the iPhone 6 is expected to launch ahead of a 5.5-inch screen version. Apple is reportedly looking to release two different version of the same phone like with the iPhone 5S and 5C. The new report acknowledged Apple is experiencing problems with the 5.5-inch screen version's display and battery.

In Jan., the Taiwanese newspaper Liberty Times reported Pegatron will handle 50 percent of iPhone 6 orders. Apple is also expected to give some of its orders to Foxconn.

Along with the larger screen sizes, Apple is reportedly making its next iPhone thinner, with a new camera system and a faster A8 processing chip.

According to ExtremeTech, GT Advanced Technologies (GTAT) is going to give Apple a major advantage in sapphire screen technology. Apple bought the Arizona factory to use on future devices and will reportedly start with the iPhone 6. Sapphire is much stronger and more durable and scratch-resistant.

The report of the new iPhones confirms a report from Reuters in early April, which stated the smartphones of the both screen sizes would go into production in May.

A shift to larger iPhone screens is the most obvious way Apple is following rival Samsung's model. With a 5.5-inch screen, Apple would be entering "phablet" territory for the first time.

The Reuters report also noted the 4.7-inch screen iPhone 6 will go into production before the 5.5-inch screen.
