The NVIDIA GeForce 378.78 Game Ready drivers are now available for download bringing with it a host of benefits specifically delivering an in-game performance increase on DX12 titles by an average of 16 percent. The performance increase in some titles is immense that it can be likened to getting an upgrade from GTX 1080 to the powerful and fast GTX 1080 Ti.

NVIDIA claims that the latest driver is a product of hours of labor and closely working with game developers in order to deliver a performance boost, which is seen at an average of 16 percent in all DX 12 games. The green team provides the data on five DX12 titles and its corresponding performance increase with the greatest increments seen in "Rise of the Tomb Raider" at 33 percent and "Hitman" at 23 percent. The remaining three titles are "Gears of War 4" at 10 percent, "Ashes of Singularity" at 9 percent and "Tom Clancy's: The Division" at 4 percent.

"The Rise of the Tomb Raider" was played at 4K on the highest settings, which is an unlikely scenario despite the performance increase from 20 to 27FPS on the GeForce GTX 1080 because the said FPS are still considered inferior in a PC Game according to Tom's Hardware. Moreover, the 4 percent increase in "The Division" is hardly perceived and gives no real changes. However, PC World believes that the massive increments in "Tomb Raider" and the "Hitman" are substantial benefits provided by the GeForce 378.78 Game Ready drivers. In fact, PC World's Brad Chacos likens the performance boost from upgrading from a GTX 1080 to the fastest card in the market, the GTX 1080 Ti.

Furthermore, the GeForce 378.78 Game Ready drivers also posted DX12 performance increases when using the GTX 1080 Ti as well as in retests done on the GTX 1070 and 1080. The new driver on "Ashes" delivered 73.7 fps in DX12 with same high settings and widens the gap to 9.5 frames between DX 11 and DX 12 modes. In addition, the same driver will be launched alongside the GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition and give access to Ansel screenshot technology, which is now added to the newly-released "Ghost Recon: Wildlands."

NVIDIA also revealed that the GeForce 378.78 Game Ready drivers will also enhance the performance of Vulkan supported titles. However, there are still no performance measures that were revealed. For those with a GeForce Experience account, the driver update will be readily available for download. Those who have no account can download the driver from NVIDIA's website.
