"The Batman" movie had another setback as the project loses a veteran director. Aside from the first two directors that have been considered, Warner Bros. and DC Films had their negotiations with Matt Reeves. However, he reportedly passed the project.

Warner Bros., DC Films Director Shuffle Taps These Three Veteran

"The Batman" franchise is considered as one of the best and most anticipated films of Warner Bros. and DC films. However, along with these high expectations from the moviegoers and comic fans comes a heavy decision on who should be the right person to direct the film.

Previously, Ben Affleck, who is also tapped to play as Batman, was supposed to helm the movie. However, the actor eventually pulls out from his double duty and decided to focus only on his superhero role. Adding on, what is also known so far is Affleck co-wrote the film script with Geoff Johns, DC Films co-head.

Since Affleck stepped down as the director, three other veterans in the film industry have been considered; Matt Reeves ("Dawn of the Planet of the Apes", "Cloverfield", and "Let Me In"), Ridley Scott ("Prometheus", "Blade Runner", and "Alien") and Fede Alvarez ("Don't Breathe", "Evil Dead", and "Ataque de Pánico!").

Matt Reeves Pull Out Director Stint

Meanwhile, in the most recent news about "The Batman" movie, The Hollywood Reporter breaks down the latest negotiation of Reeves'. The site also revealed why he decided to leave the project.

Based on the report, Reeves exited the talks with Warner Bros. and DC Film. A studio insider breaks the news and revealed the reason behind the sudden setback of the film project. However, Reeves could still come back to the "The Batman" film assignment "when the heads cool".

As for the reason, Cinemablend noted that there is no reason stated for Reeves' departure. But, the closest reason could be because of his current movie "War for the Planet of the Apes". He is said to be on a deep post production stage for the movie which is reportedly the biggest entry in the FOX franchise.

As of writing, this is the only current update for the "The Batman" movie. Stay tuned for more upcoming news.
