"Suicide Squad 2" rumored director Mel Gibson might not be the only one helming the upcoming film. Reports have been claiming that there is still a possibility that David Ayers will be involved in the movie one way or another.

'Suicide Squad 2': Mel Gibson Could Be The Movie's New Director

For some fans, it surely is a really strange decision for Warner Bros. to consider Mel Gibson as "Suicide Squad 2's" possible director. Come to think of it, after he trashed talk "Batman vs Superman" movie and declares that he has no interest in directing a superhero movie, it is quite surprising that he is actually in talks with the production company.

However, who knows since Gibson is known for his award-winning projects; so maybe this is one of the reasons why Warner Bros. tapped him to possibly helm the supervillain movie. And besides, he noted that he has no interest in "superhero" movies and not in "supervillain" films. Choosing a director known for his "Hacksaw Ridge," "Apocalypto," "Braveheart" and other action-packed projects, is actually a good choice.

Meanwhile, a Twitter post from Justin Kroll pointed out that "if Gibson wants the job, it's his". Meaning to say, he defeated Ruben Fleischer and Jonathan Levine who are both in the list of possible directors.

As for the update, whether he is close to getting the director's chair or is still in a "first date" stage, Vanity Fair noted that Gibson is still in talks with the company.

"It's kind of a first date," Gibson said.

'Suicide Squad 2' Rumored Director Mel Gibson Might See David Ayers' Return To The Film

On the other hand, according to a post from Popsugar, there is still a possibility that David Ayers, "Suicide Squad's" original director, might come back to the project. However, this could be not in the director's chair, he still has a say to the film's story flow.

Based on the post, "Suicide Squad 2" is already in Ayers' 2017 schedule even before he departed the supervillain movie project. If the director decided to sit around the set, there is a chance that he and Gibson might have a team up for the sequel, which is not a bad idea at all. Merging two brilliant directors in one movie is a great news.

As for the other details regarding Ayers, what is known so far is that he is currently tied up to an all-female supervillain movie starring Margot Robbie.
