Konami introduced a new arcade game at Japan Amusement Expo (JAEPO) 2017. The 4v4 co-op arcade game borrowing game elements from the "Bomberman" series, called 'Bombergirl.'
Konami has been known not to shy away from offerings that objectify women; 'Bombergirl' is no exception. According to WWG, the game is a little risqué. The report indicated that 'Bombergirl' has only been confirmed for a Japan release. No word was given if the game has console ports or if the game will come to the West.
"Bombergirl" gameplay
Based on the video footage below, "Bombergirl" is played pretty much like the classic "Bomberman." However, the game features a 3D environment as opposed to the 2D of the original, and that the main sprites are cute chibi girls whose portraits are represented as young women with destructible clothing. It may not mean much in Japan, but it would sure raise eyebrows in the West.
"Bombergirl" features four sprites or characters namely: "Bombergirl" Shiro who places bombs, Blocker Momoko who places blocks, Attacker Oren who can move at high speeds, and Shooter Emera who is a long-range attacker. The objective of the 4v4 game is to blow up the enemy base first.
According to Siliconera, the added elements of the game not only make it fun to play but also fun to watch. Losing a match is the risqué part; the girls have destructible outfits much like "Senran Kagura," so it would be no surprise to see some animé boob.
The game characters, each has their own skill set and as they level up, they get additional special attacks. The game footage also hints there are 15 playable girls Konami plans to incorporate in the game. Destructible outfits aside, the game description say, "Bombergirl" will have exciting matches that you cannot take your eyes off until the very end.
