Twice failing to complete the "Pokémon Sun and Moon" global mission events, players finally succeeded the latest game event.
The first "Pokémon Sun and Moon" global event required players to catch 100 million Pokémon during its run and failed. A second global mission event was conducted a few months after to another failure.
The third "Pokémon Sun and Moon" was expected to fail yet again to result in a three-peat loss; however, players were able to succeed their third global mission this week. Utilizing the games' Global Trade System (GTS), players were tasked with trading 1 million Pokémon in just 14 days. Not only were the players able to beat the task, they were able to do it in record time in just four short days, Gamerant reported.
As of latest count, "Pokémon Sun and Moon" players have traded over 2 million Pokémon over the GTS. For beating the goal, all participants were rewarded with 2,000 Festival coins, those on GTS got 4,000. In addition, by garnering over double the requirement of the event, players will also receive a Friend Ball, reported Siliconera.
The "Pokémon Sun and Moon" community reportedly worked together to trade as many Pokémon as possible. Accordingly, players used community portals to organize trade events instead of previously lounging and trading randomly. Apparently, the system worked, beating the goal in record time.
Aside from trading in "Pokémon Sun and Moon" community portals, there is a Pokémon Reddit thread made specifically for the third Global Mission. A strategy was reportedly made to trade Magnemite repeatedly, and players were given the suggestion to reinvigorate the Magnemite Stock Exchange.
The strategy was initially used in "Pokémon Black and White." Magnemite can easily be found in the Trainer School on the first island. Exchanging Magnemite became the norm. The concept was simple and fast, likewise preventing botched trades.
It is not known what challenges will be up for other events in "Pokémon Sun and Moon." It is hoped that players can cooperate once again and come up with another simple strategy to beat other challenges due to arrive in a few months.
