‘The Originals’ Final Season on The CW: Is ABC Picking Up ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Spin-off After Season 4? [VIDEO]
By"The Originals" is on its final season on The CW. Will the Mikaelson's push on and have a new home in ABC?
The Mickaelson's was left in a tight spot during the finale episode of Season 3. Now that assurance was made, albeit a shorter season, "The Originals" is now on its last season on the CW. Earlier reports said that "The Vampire Diaries" spin-off will be picked up by Netflix, though there are no confirmations that can be verified.
In July, Netflix announced a new agreement with the CW Network that all series of the latter will be able available for streaming, including "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals," on Netflix 8 days after the broadcast of each series' season finale. "The Vampire Diaries" is definitely on its way out while "The Originals" has yet to be declared canceled. Judging from the lesser episode order for Season 4, it was surmised that the series is also on its way out, same as that of its predecessor.
Rumors are starting to circulate that "The Originals" might be picked up by ABC after The CW run ends in Season 4. But like all rumors, nothing can be confirmed as of this time. The more viable possibility is for Netflix to pick up the show because of the latest agreement Netflix has with The CW.
According to TVLine, "The Originals" Season 4 will start 5 years in the future. Hope will be older and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) will be trying to locate the lost 7 werewolf packs from which she would solicit help in her quest to save the Michaelson's. It is said that Season 4 will feature Vincent's (Yusuf Gatewood) backstory, Rebekah's (Claire Holt) return and Freya (Riley Voelkel) saving the family. Marcel, on the other hand, will find himself back in total control of the French Quarter.
"The Originals" Season 4 is expected to premiere on Jan. 29, 2017.
