After two straight routs in the SEC, the Kentucky Wildcats (1) remained the unbeaten number one in the Associated Press college basketball poll.

But the Virginia Cavaliers (2) are sticking around, also unbeaten, and took two first-place votes from Kentucky for the second straight week. Virginia's offensive output has taken a dip since starting their ACC schedule, but their defense has been nearly infallible.

The only team that is allowing less points per game on average is Kentucky, and that may be a true indicator as to why they are 1-2 once again in week 11 of the AP rankings.

"They're obviously the No. 1 team in the country for a reason," Alabama coach Anthony Grant said of the Wildcats in his postgame comments after the Tide's 70-48 loss. "You look at the size, the length, their ability to defend. It was difficult to find quality shots against them."

After three combined overtimes between Ole Miss and Texas A&M, Kentucky took Missouri and Alabama to task by a combined score of 156-85 in those two contests.

Duke (5) salvaged their week by beating Louisville (10), despite losing to Miami and N.C. State before that. While Duke only fell one place, Louisville dropped four places. Both winning out their weeks, Gonzaga (3) and Villanova (4) rounded out the top five.

Entering the AP poll for the first time this season was Dayton (22), Indiana (23) and Iowa (25), who replaced Arkansas, Oklahoma State and Wyoming.
