The Kentucky Wildcats (1) met perhaps their most equal match thus far Saturday in the Louisville Cardinals (5) and grinded out a 58-50 win to remain the unanimous number one atop the Associated Press poll.

Louisville was able to stifle Kentucky's top scorers, but were unable to mount much of an attack themselves. John Calipari's unselfish offensive approach proved to win out once again as freshman Tyler Ulis stepped up to lead the Wildcats with 14 points.

"I was more excited than nervous because it was my first away game," Ulis said in his postgame comments, according to ESPN. "Being a freshman, I just wanted to see what the atmosphere felt like."

The freshman was only averaging 5.8 points per game, but managed a 12-point second half after suffering a blood cut near his right eye. Calipari is typically accustomed to having a team full of freshmen sensations, but saw the likes of Aaron and Andrew Harrison and Willy Cauley-Stein return for their sophomore seasons.

Inactive this week, Duke (2) stayed where they were while Virginia (3) and Wisconsin (4) each rose two places resulting from Louisville's loss. Likely as a testament to the game the Cardinals played against Kentucky, Louisville only fell one place in week eight of the AP top 25 rankings.

Arizona (8) fell out of the top five after losing to UNLV while Villanova (6) and Gonzaga (7) each rose one place. Iowa State (9) and Utah (10) rounded out the top 10 after Texas (11) fell two spots out of the top 10.

Also suffering upset losses this week and falling multiple places were Kansas (13), Wichita State (16) and Washington (21). TCU was the only team to exit the rankings, while Georgetown (25) entered the poll.
