Now that Apple has reportedly sent the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 into mass production, rumors of its actual release date will undoubtedly heat up significantly.

Kicking off the fervor is a report from Apple Insider that states the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is set to hit mass production soon after. The website cited sources that said Apple is planning its unveiling event for Sept. 16, followed by a release date of Oct. 14.

Both dates are Tuesdays, which would not be strange for an unveiling event, as Apple typically schedules such events for that day of the week, like with last year's iPhone 5S and 5C. However, Apple usually released its new mobile devices on Friday, as was the case for last year's iPhone (Sept. 20, 2013) and the iPad Air (Nov. 1, 2013).

The iPhone 6 would not be the first handset Apple released on a non-Friday, but it would be just the second, as the tech giant released the iPhone 4 on a Thursday.

Before Apple Insider's latest report, several experts have predicted a Sept. 19 release date for the iPhone 6. Since Apple is expected to release its first "phablet," there have been conflicting reports disagreeing on when the larger model will hit shelves.

While some believe Apple will release a full host of 4.7-inch models paired with a limited release of 5.5-inch ones, some believe the larger one will hit the shelves in full force months later. Regardless, there have been numerous reports stating Apple has had trouble with the 5.5-inch iPhone 6's development.

Apple Insider's source also said the company is expecting an "incredibly busy" fall, but would not specify why. The most likely reason is that Apple is working extra hard to get the iWatch into stores for holiday shopping or that they are working on their Apple TV upgrade.
