The news of "NiOh" selling and surpassing 1 million units in just a month was recently revealed by Koei Tecmo. It was to thank the people who supported them along the way and for those who gave them ideas on how to garner more audiences for their game.
More than 1 million units sold
General manager Yasutomo Watanabe revealed recently that their latest action RPG, "NiOh" has managed to surpass 1 million units. He also revealed that the game has been challenging since it was a brand new IP that they have been working on for many years. It utilized a lot of resources that the company had to create this great game, said Watanabe to MCV in an exclusive interview.
The general manager thanked their western publisher, Sony Interactive Entertainment, for their support in making the western version possible. He also thinks that their game is performing well and they are happy with the results.
Proving their games can top it off too
Watanabe said that the game company's position right now proves that their strategy to expand their brand and user-base in the long-term was worth it. It also proved that their titles could reach the highest ranks in the charts. They are happy with the results and the positive feedback that they received from the players and the media.
What they learned
"NiOh" made Koei Tecmo realize and learned about a method on how to garner a wider audience, which was the release of the Alpha demo. Team Ninja chose this type of method and it yielded a lot of important results. Being so open about the game's development and incorporating feedback from the fans really helped increase the interest in the game and shape the players' expectations for it.
Players get to pause the game
"NiOh's" 1.06 patch notes was recently revealed, which contains several additions, adjustments, improvements, and fixes. One of the most important additions to the game with this update is the ability to pause the game, which is incredibly helpful. It was specified that the pause option can only be used in single player and not in multiplayer mode or when they have summoned another player into their game, posted the Reddit member on its official website.
