As the speculations on Mi Mix 2 continue to build up, another fresh report suggests that Xiaomi is preparing a lighter version of Mi Mix.

Xiaomi Mi Mix Lite Specs

The budget Mi Mix is said have two models. The 2 GB of RAM will be paired with 16 GB of internal storage and sold at 999 yuan. The top-tier will have a 3 GB RAM and 64 GB inbuilt storage that will be offered at 1,499 yuan.

Mi Mix Lite will reportedly pack a Snapdragon 821 chipset and ceramic body. The current model is sold in limited numbers in China and many reports have learned the Lite version will have a global launch this year, with high screen-to-body ratio just like its older sibling, The Mobile Indian reported.

To put into perspective, Mi Mix is a 6.4-inch flagship sporting a 16 MP rear shooter and 5 MP front-facing shooter. The optics in Mi Mix Lite will reportedly pack less pixels and Xiaomi might also equip it with smaller battery capacity than 4,400 mAh.

Xiaomi might not change the edgless design but it can be argued that the Lite version will be getting a smaller display. There's a fingerprint sensor mounted at the back panel, and this will likely available in Mi Mix Lite, too. The top-tier Mi Mix sports 6 GB RAM and 256 GB inbuilt storage. Xiaomi is said to be working on its own Surge S1 Soc, and according to GizChina, it could end up in one of the Mi Mix Lite models.

What's with the Lite?

As a comparison, Huawei P10 and P10 Lite have a few differences. P10 packs larger display and battery. The optics in P10 Lite is a downgrade from a dual-lens module to 12 MP single rear camera. Xiaomi could be following Huawei in launching a Lite version of each series to cater budget consumers who want a powerful device at an affordable price.
