LG Steam VR Headset is the Best Alternative While Waiting for HTC Vive 2 with Wireless Transmitter
ByHTC is reportedly working on a new VR device as revealed by the company's president on global sales in an interview. However, while waiting for the next big thing, LG Steam VR headset appears to be a good alternative for HTC Vive 2.
HTC Vive 2 Latest Updates
HTC's president on global sales revealed that HTC Vive 2 won't be a conventional VR device. Chia-lin Chang revealed in an interview that the next Vive will be a different thing because it's something that doesn't slapped into a phone which Samsung Gear VR and Google Daydream View do though it will be compatible with HTC U flagship smartphone, CNET reported.
Speaking about being unconventional VR device, HTC Vive 2 is likely to change the landscape of VR experience as it aims to eliminate the headpiece-pugged-into-smartphone kind of system. Moving freely without being tethered into a PC is possible with HTC Vive 2 through the use of wireless transmitter.
Aside from an excellent VR device, HTC is reportedly looking forward to focus their efforts in enabling the industry to embrace the innovation and later on build an ecosystem where they can introduce compelling content and experience through HTC Vive 2. Through this strategy, HTC will be able to recover their operating loss and falling revenue from last year's competition with Facebook's Oculus Rift and Sony's PlayStation VR.
LG Steam VR Headset Review
While waiting for the release of HTC Vive 2, consumers' eyes are all set to the newly launched LG steam VR headset which is considered to be a good alternative because it resembles the original HTC Vive. According to Engadget, LG's VR device is built from Valve's Steam VR tracking technology which makes the device impressive.
LG Steam VR headset's controllers are similar to Vive, however, unlike HTC, LG has created its own base stations. The prototype headset shown during GDC 2017 sports a 3.64-inch display, each lens features 1440 x 1280 resolution, 90Hz refresh rate and 110-degree field view but still subject for modifications. In conclusion, LG Steam VR headset is totally impressive from the display and performance but LG did not divulge the device's cost.
