Delayed upgrades could be one of the signs that a smartphone will be discontinued soon and such is the case for Nexus 6P that is rumored to be retiring soon. In relation to that, Google is reportedly starting building up the public image of Pixel 2 to settle everything before its official launching.
Nexus Products Removed from Google Store
Back in October, Google has made an announcement regarding the recall of all Nexus products from Google Store as part of the product's discontinuation. This is to give way to the newly launched Pixel and Pixel XL phones which are expected to torch the company's path for the years to come, Gadgets NDTV reported.
Despite the reported removal of Nexus products, Google has continued rolling out Android updates and security patches to Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. However, just recently, Nexus 6P has failed to receive the newly added Google Assistant which made netizens speculate about the soon retirement of the well-loved Android smartphone.
In relation to that, Google is heading towards dropping off Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P from the two-year update guarantee program of Google devices. It strengthens the speculation that Nexus 6P will soon be phasing out from the list.
Google Starts to Build-up Pixel 2's Image
Last year's Pixel smartphones have overwhelmed with positive and negative feedbacks from the Android community as well as the media people. For this reason, the search giant has reportedly started building the public image of Pixel 2 to further eliminate the negative perception about the brand including the issue on global popularity.
In relation to that, Google's VP Rick Osterloh revealed during an interview in Mobile World Congress that Pixel brand will stay premium (to counter the on-going rumors regarding the budget Pixel phones), Forbes reported. And premium means impressive features and specs which include waterproof, dustproof, slim design with almost bezel-less screen display, excellent camera specs and many others.
