Motorola is known for bringing latest Android updates to their handsets earlier than other major manufacturers. For this reason, the Japanese tech firm is rumored to be preparing Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus for the imminent rollout of Android 7.1.2 Nougat which brings new and exciting features.

Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus Android Nougat Update

Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus handsets in India have received the Android 7.0 Nougat update earlier than the US which was only rolled out in the first week of March as a soak test. However, since no problems have arisen during the rollout, the update will be continued to push to other eligible Moto handsets with build number NPJ25.93-13 which carries the December 2016 security patch, Android Police reported.

In relation to that, netizens speculate that Motorola is also preparing for the rollout of Android 7.1.2 Nougat to Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus sooner. However, this claim is not supported by any official statement made by the Lenovo-owned Motorola; thus, Moto G4 owners are advised to wait for the announcement.

Android 7.1.2 Nougat Official Release Date

More powerful Nougat is waiting to be release this summer. Android 7.1.2 is the second beta of Android Nougat is set to release on April 4 to all Google devices - Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Nexus Player, Express reported.

Android 7.1.2 Nougat new associated features include VoLTE where users are allowed to make calls through internet without relying on the phone's signal, "swipe for notifications" where users can access his notifications through swiping the fingerprint scanner instead of swiping the device's screen, redesigned app shortcuts and better image keyboard support.

There is no definite schedule of the update's rollout to non-Google devices. Sony and HTC are reportedly delaying the update to their flagship smartphones because of some modifications to be able to come up on their own apps, themes and services.
