Google reportedly delaying its plan to bring the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 in the smartphone market this 2017. According to reports, the sequel to the Pixel bandwagon is ongoing but taking much longer time due to problems in manufacturing department. However, a recent plot in the Pixel 2017 story lineup reveals that aside from "Muskie" and "Walleye," Google is welcoming "Taimen."
According to Android Police, Google's bandwagon will be launching a trifecta for its 2017 schedule which means, aside from confirming that the already hyped Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 are truly coming, a much larger phone model is also slated for release.
Pixel 2017's third installment goes under the codename "Taimen" since it follows Google's naming tradition for its phone devices of adopting aquatic animal names, Droid-Life reported. This Pixel phone is assumed to be of a larger size since the "Taimen" is a large fish in the trout family. Therefore, it will most likely sport a larger screen than that of Pixel XL 2.
Meanwhile, Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 release date will follow the annual rhythm in the industry meaning they will come anytime this year despite no exact dates are announced. However, the Pixel "Taimen" official announcement has not been made yet and it remains unclear whether it will be released on the same date with its Pixel 2 siblings.
On the other hand, another report claims that "Taimen" belongs to separate project that would be released far later than the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. The rumor suggests that it cannot be part of the Pixel products since it may end up as a hybrid of tablet and a notebook-like device.
As a side note, it is still best to wait for Google's confirmation regarding the project "Taimen" in order to be sure whether it is part of the Pixel 2 bandwagon or it is another innovative device.
