Apple is still struggling when it comes to the consumers living rooms simply because Apple TVs are expensive while Amazon's Fire TVs are relatively affordable. However, the Cupertino-based giant is likely to prove its worth with the upcoming fifth-generation of Apple TV that could spell trouble to rival but good news to fans.

Apple TV Updates

When it comes to smart TV's, Amazon is the name that clearly dominates the market with Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. For this reason, Apple is reportedly struggling in this field because Apple TVs are expensive but features are relatively close to the affordable ones from Amazon.

However, this perception is likely to end now because Apple is reportedly launching the newest Apple TV with 4K support. According to 9 to 5 Mac, aside from the anticipated 4K support that comes with vivid colors, Apple is also said to include software optimization in the new smart TV.

For this reason, 4K streaming in Apple TV would clearly mean users are able to access Netflix and even purchase 4K content on iTunes. This move from the Cupertino-based giant is expected to enhance the sales performance in the market since people are presumed to upgrade to the new TV set.

Other features that could land in the fifth-generation Apple TV is advanced support for Siri to compete with Amazon echo, cable bundle and many others. There is also a possibility that Apple will launch another app where the newly added features could also come to the 1080p model Apple TV.

With the upcoming Apple TV, netizens are expected to be convinced with Apple's slogan that says "The future of TV is app." Business Insider reported that Apple is likely to target the gaming community on its fifth-generation smart TV through giving the users a traditional gaming input.

To be able to do that, the Cupertino-giant might put up a healthy developer community for its TV operating system by allowing game developers to build games for it. For this reason, Apple may disrupt the Xbox One and PlayStation community in the same way it took over the mobile world.
