Google Assistant is an exclusive feature added to Pixel and Pixel XL phones alongside the Android 7.1 Nougat mobile operating system. However, several rumors about a code that would allow the AI to function in other phones are surfacing online but LG G6 might be the first one to have.
Google Assistant on Other Phones
Previous reports suggest that Google Assistant is likely to come to Google hardware such as Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X but until now, no such thing has happened. It can be recalled that aside from Pixel and Pixel XL, Google Assistant is already expected to be available in the upcoming flagship smartphone LG G6 but this remains unconfirmed until the phone's launching during the MWC 2017.
However, hopes are high again because of the latest reports that surfacing the internet about a certain code that could bring Google Assistant on other phones like the ones mentioned above in the near future. According to Trusted Reviews, this code is incorporated with the alpha release of Android's Google app which seems to be a mistakenly launched the search giant.
For this reason, several users reported that they have been able to get through to the welcome screen of the voiced-based digital assistant by long pressing the Home Button in the same way Google Now is activated. But the welcome screen is reportedly not compatible to other non-Pixel devices because of the current status, an alpha release.
Google Assistant Features
Google Assistant has now become smarter and is supported by an increasing number of Google Apps. According to The Indian Express, Google's voiced-based digital assistant now feature in Google Home and Google Allo.
Furthermore, latest reports also suggest the ability of Google Assistant to control smart home appliances, a feature that is expected to be rolling out soon. It seems like Google is prepping up Google Assistant to battle with Apple's Siri, Samsung's Bixby, Amazon Alexa and Microsoft Cortana.
