Bandai Namco Entertainment will release Tekken 7 in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Tekken franchise. The company takes the game back to its roots with not only its canon storyline, but it also returns to its classic 1 vs 1 bout.
After spending years in development testing in arcades, the long-awaited classic fighting game, "Tekken 7" will finally arrive on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Ahead of its release this year, Bandai Namco announced a season pass along with several pre-order bonuses for loyal Tekken fans.
Upon receipt of early reservations for "Tekken 7," Eliza, who first joined the franchise in "Tekken Revolution," will be part of the package. Additionally, those playing "Tekken 7" on the Xbox One, receives a free backward-compatible copy of "Tekken 6" for Xbox 360. However, PS4 players will not be left without freebies, for they get exclusive costumes and a jukebox mode upon "Tekken 7's" release.
"Tekken 7" will include all content employed in the most recent iteration of its arcade version, "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution," according to IGN. Additionally, the game will also feature several game modes and a roster of game characters of more than 30 strong.
The initially announced release of "Tekken 7" was slated for early 2017; however, it was pushed back to later in the year. Franchise director Katsuhiro Harada deemed their team could make it happen, however they would have to scale down on the content in order to make a master release.
In the end, Harada said that they avoided releasing a product that is not working 100 percent, basing their decision on other companies' releases, as well as from their own. This, he said, is the kind of thing they want to avoid with "Tekken 7." They decided to move the release of the game later in the year that will already incorporate all of the original content they planned to be in the game, upon release.
This confirms Harada's resolve that there will be no classic characters will be added through paid downloadable content to the game post-launch, Event Hubs reported. This does not mean though that "Tekken 7" will not have DLC characters, however, game designer Michael Murray said in a Tweet that people are going to be hyped by "special characters."
"Tekken 7" is in the right place with 20 years of experience backing it up. Accordingly, not only is the game fun to play, it is fun to watch being played especially when "Rage Mode" is triggered and the move connects. It helps that the game now has a robust tournament mode before "Tekken 7" breaks out into eSports.
