Apple iPhone 8 Specs, Release Date: Next-gen iPhone Will Sport OLED Display, Wireless Charging, All Glass Body – Everything You Need To Know!
ByApple Inc.'s plan for its next iPhone iteration is creating noise on the online community, as recent reports point to specific features coming to the device including new OLED display, wireless charging and an all glass body design.
Earlier this year, rumors are surfacing online with Apple Inc.'s plan on replacing its traditional screen with the OLED displays for the next-gen iPhone 8 as part of a major design revamp. Analysts reviewed Apple's latest 10-K filing, showing purchase orders on OLED displays in large quantities.
Apple Inc. is popular in equipping OLED display, and has just recently made investments in OLED for smartphones. However, LG Display Chief Executive Officer Han Sang-Beom admitted that the company was a little late in developing OLED screens for smaller devices.
Aside from the mentioned shift on traditional display, an additional big change on iPhone 8 reveals its glass body - an upgrade from its aluminum housing carried by previous models.
Reports also suggest that the phone will come in three models: a couple of TFT-LCD models and a curved 5.8-inch OLED model. According to News Everyday, one of the TFT-LCD models will measure 5.5 inches and the other model at 4.7 inches.
Although no official reveal has yet been made, the OLED display is expected to wrap around iPhone's edges as well as sides. The device's screen will measure 5.8 inches with the active region, spanning a diagonal size of 5.2 inches.
On another note, recent reports indicate iPhone 8's wireless charging capability through an induction pad, a technology already being used in the Apple Watch.
According to World Report, experts believe that the all glass body will help Apple iPhone 8 feature a faster-charging speed compared to its earlier predecessors and will also minimize disruption from frequency interference while wireless charging.
The company is expected to take a huge leap in wireless charging by the end of 2018. Recent rumors suggest that Apple's iPhone 8 is expected to be rolled out in three models, wherein the first two will serve as successors to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, while the third model will feature a bezel-less design. The Touch ID Home Button in the third model will be integrated into the iPhones' display only.
