Samsung Galaxy S8 Specs, Latest Rumors: Next-gen Phone Will Come In 5.7-inch, 6.2-inch Screen Displays; To Feature Qualcomm, Exynos Processors?
ByAfter Galaxy Note 7's upsetting explosive stint, Samsung's upcoming iteration for its Galaxy series, Galaxy S8, is expected to rebuild its reputation among customers through notable changes on the device's display technology and touch-based power button. Now, another rumor has sprung up with Galaxy S8 releasing two variants, a 5.7-inch and a 6.2-inch.
The said display dimensions are much larger than the series' previous devices. According to rumor, one of the reasons for the bigger screen options for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 is to attract Galaxy Note customers back to the company's home.
As per NDTV, the models are tipped by the famous tipster Evan Blass, indicating model numbers SM-G950 and SM-G955 for 5.7-inch and 6.2-inch screen sizes respectively. It suggested that the company will skip model number series SM-G94x, as SM-G93x was used for Galaxy S7 series.
In addition, the larger Galaxy S8 variant is expected to feature an edge-to-edge display and will come with a bezel-less design, displaying over 90 percent screen to body ratio. This feature assures the design similarity of the S8's dimensions to the S7 edge.
On another note, rumors suggest that Samsung will release two variants of the Galaxy S8 for different processors, one powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and an Exynos 9-based processor, an ARM-based system-on-chip.
Aside from the two display variants, the Galaxy S8 will be equipped with a pressure-sensitive Force Touch technology, the first Samsung phone to carry the said feature that works similarly to Apple's 3D Touch.
In addition to Galaxy S8's efficient CPU, it will also include a Quick Charge system that hastens charging time by at least 20 percent and a rear dual camera setup.
A 12MP S5K2L2 sensor and 13MP sensor made by Sony is expected for rear with an 8MP front-snapper. Reports have emerged that a digital assistant exclusive to the Samsung mobile, codenamed as "Viv," will also serve as key aspect for Galaxy S8. "Viv" is the brainchild of the original creators of Apple assistant Siri, which will work with other Samsung devices including tablets, smartwatches and Smart TVs.
Tech Times reported that Galaxy S8 is rumored to come in a 256GB version, alongside 64GB and 128GB options.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is said to be revealed at next year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain; however, Samsung has yet to release a statement regarding the upcoming device's actual launch date.
