OnePlus pulled a surprise by incorporating a camera technology from Sony for their OnePlus 3 successor.
Considered as a mobile maverick, OnePlus has come out with a rumored successor to its OnePlus 3 with an interesting surprise that may attract premium smartphone users. The company is coming out with the OnePlus 3T that will feature Sony's IMX398.
To note, Sony's IMX398 first debuted on the Oppo R9s and the Oppo R9s Plus. The sensor is 16-megapixels with an aperture of f/1.7 with dual-core autofocus said to be quicker and accurate than a phase-detection focus used in the OnePlus 3.
A recent 3C certification made it clear that the OnePlus 3T will likely bear the A3010 model number. GSMArena reported that the title is fitting since it appears that the design aspect and functionality of the OnePlus 3T remains the same with the OEM rumored to upgrade the internals of the unit.
Among this rumor is the incorporation of the Sony IMX398 sensor. According to Forbes, the camera sensor Oppo co-developed with Sony will be fast in locking on to fast-moving subjects. The chipset of the OnePlus 3T will also feature a slight upgrade to its chipset by employing the Snapdragon 821, which replaces its predecessor's Snapdragon 820.
There might be a rumored slight trade off for these upgrades on the OnePlus 3T. Instead of an AMOLED display, the unit might come using an LCD panel instead due to a supply issue of the former. However, the company stated that they would be retaining Optic AMOLED in the future.
Other features of the OnePlus 3T are rumored to be unchanged. It will retain 6GB of RAM, a choice of both 64GB or 128GB internal storage, an 8MB front camera and a fingerprint reader. A 3000 mAh battery with Dash Charge support will power it and connectivity comes thru 4G LTE and Type-C USB and will likely be running Android 7 Nougat.
Though there is no final launch date for the OnePlus 3T, a final rumor leaked by Evan Blass via Twitter said the new smartphone is expected to cost around $80 more than the OnePlus 3 that retails at $399.
