New CAD renders of the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) leaked online by a website.

The new CAD renders posted by Android Authority on their site claimed the renders were obtained exclusively in collaboration with @OnLeaks. The Galaxy A5 (2017) was recently seen at Geekbench with the same being spotted on an Indian import list, the report said.

Three model numbers were mentioned in the Indian import list for the A series the 2017 edition namely: SM-A320F (Galaxy A3), SM-520F (Galaxy A5) and SM-A720F (Galaxy A7). Said units were en route to India for testing last August.

GSMArena reported The Galaxy A5 (2017 got Wi-Fi certification earlier this month in both its single and dual-SIM models. Further, the certification listed the models run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and also Wi-Fi Direct capable.

The unofficial leaked renders show that the mid-range phone will carry the design of the high-end Galaxy S7, an established design feature Samsung does that trickles down to the Galaxy A5 series. The design feature of the Galaxy A5 (2017) is said to be almost a duplicate of the S7 down to the rounded edges on the back.

Other features (unofficial) of the Galaxy A5 (2017) are:

  • 5.2-inch touchscreen
  • 3,000 mAh battery (up from previous of 2,900 mAh)
  • Samsung Exynos 7880 chipset with an octa-core CPU

Four Cortex-A72 1.87 GHz cores and four Cortex-A53 1.3 GHz cores

  • Mali-T860MP4 GPU
  • 3 GB RAM
  • Renders show a SIM Tray as well as an SD Card Slot
  • Storage (No data available yet)

As already seen in Samsung's last known flagships, the Galaxy A5 (2017) will also feature a 'glass sandwich' construction which means both front and back of the unit are made of glass with a metal frame in between.

The Galaxy A5 (2017) has a side-mounted speaker above the power button which can be found on its right side. The unit retains a 3.5mm headset jack, and on the bottom, it will carry a USB Type-C port. The camera is completely flushed on its back.

The new Galaxy A5 (2017) is expected to be launched Dec. 2016.
