Samsung released the 2016 edition of Galaxy A9. Check out the review!

Galaxy A9 2016 specs review: Design and display

Users who are looking for Samsung handset with larger screen can opt for Galaxy A9. It sports massive 6-inch Super AMOLED display (protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4) with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution and 367 ppi pixel density.

Galaxy Note 5 comes with smaller screen 5.7 inch and better in color production with its 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution and 518 ppi pixel density. However, agreeing to what Android Authority has said before - the new Galaxy A9 offers deep blacks, vibrant colors and great viewing angles but it is not the most ergonomic phones to handle. And the responsive fingerprint sensor is surely a thing to consider.

Galaxy A9 2016 specs review: Software and hardware

Media consumption would be better on Galaxy A9 - watching movie, surfing the web and playing game - since it packs larger screen display.

Galaxy A9 comes with Android Lollipop out of the box but it is upgradable to Marshmallow. Samsung equips the handset with TouchWiz that will make life easier. Everything from palm swipe for screenshot to smart alert notification when you pick up the phone. It supports split screen multi-tasking - it's able to minimize apps and move them around.

Strangely, Samsung equips the mid-range device with plenty of good things. Octa-core processor Snapdragon 652 and 3GB of RAM for instance - the phone performs well and users will have a smooth experience when browsing or playing games. In fact, the benchmark is better than the S6.

Moving to the optics, Galaxy A9 2016 has a few modes missing. It does not have 4K video. The phone has 13 MP camera that features OIS and LED flash. Compared to the Galaxy Note 5, it is a step down since the Note device offers 16 MP but the selfie shooter is an up from the Note 5 as Galaxy A9 sports 8 MP camera.

The quality of images can be compared to other Samsung's premium handsets. Galaxy A9 brings in the details on each shot and there is no significant quality difference when it comes to the camera duty - when compared to Galaxy Note 5.

What's even better about the phone is that Samsung finally squeezes huge battery capacity of 4,000 mAh to Galaxy A9 2016 edition. It is 1,000 mAh higher than Note 5 battery and probably the biggest battery in the category.

Galaxy A9 2016 specs: Things to note

The smartphone does not support wireless charging, fast-charging and LED notification light. However, these features are considered as minor when compared to the phone's overall performance. Galaxy A9 2016 is heavier than Note 5 due to the huge battery but it is actually 0.2 mm thinner.
