Apple is all set to roll out iOS 10, the newest version of the operating system for iOS devices on Tuesday, September 13, and though it bears a strong resemblance to iOS 9, a lot of features have received a radical overhaul. Messages looks just like Facebook Messenger, the lock screen displays more info and most notably, users can finally uninstall Apple's default apps.

The latest version of iOS was first announced at the WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) and has been available in beta form to select people. With its official debut, normal punters will finally be able to get their hands on the highly lauded OS.

iOS 10 is expected to come with an array of awe-inspiring features, some of them are detailed below:

Lock & Home Screen Update

Users will be able to get more detailed notification such as reply to messages, more info on a news alert and progress details on their Uber. But that's not all; giving a firm press and 3D Touch will bring up more options.
Althoug a new feature dubbed as Raise to Wake might sound trivial but with this, you can see all your notification simply by lifting up your locked phone.

Users should bear in mind that a few iOS 10 features will only be available on select newer devices. For instance, the aforementioned Raise to Wake feature will work on iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, or later, the feature is not compatible with the iPhone 5, 5c, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, according to reports on PhoneArena.

Siri Is Now Compatible With More Apps

Until now, Siri has only worked with a slew of Apple's own apps such as Emails, Music and Messages, but things are about to change with the arrival of iOS 10. Siri will now work with other apps as well; which means you can now order a taxi with Uber, or send messages via WhatsApp or even search photos on Pinterest.

QuickType Gets Smarter

Updates to features that recommends words or answers based on the context while typing messages or emails, now does a lot more. For instance, you can send your location to inform someone where exactly you are.

The New Home App

Home app enables you to control your smart gadgets with snap of a finger. Although there are not many people who use web connected products such as cookers, lights, doors and fridge, internet integrated products are gaining popularity. In other words, the new Home app allows you to control your home.

Smarter Maps

Maps are now compatible with other apps allowing users to do a lot of things in them rather than just getting directions.

But that's not all, the new iOS is slated to bring in more features such as facial recognition, revamped music, better phone calls with a voicemail transcription service that enable users to see what people want you for when in a meeting, calling from other devices such as WhatsApp now integrated into the Phone app, arrays of new emojis in messages. Also, the For You section is divided into categories such as sports, tech etc., News.com.au reported.
