Apple Inc. unleashed the fifth beta of the macOS Sierra to developers, the fifth beta with build number 16A286a, is the newest operating system designed for the Mac.
macOS Sierra beta 5 appears one week after the release of the fourth beta and approximately two months after the operating system was first unveiled at the tech company's 2016 Worldwide Developers Conference.
After the software was unleashed, developers can download the beta update through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store or by the Apple Developer Center, according to Mac Rumors.
macOS Sierra is a major update that brings the computer program Siri to the Apple's Mac for the first time, in which it allows users to look up information, to conduct voice searches, to quickly find files, and more.
New Continuity is also featured in the update that offers an Auto Unlock option for opening a Mac using an "Apple Watch." And a Universal Clipboard used to copy text on one Apple gadget and pasting it on another. And the update will see a wider public release this fall.
However, the release pattern for betas boosted up as the tech giant approaches a final public launch of its next-generation software. The fourth betas of the software arrived just last Monday, making this turnaround a lot faster compared to the two week gap that came after the third betas, based on the report of Apple Insider.
But, Apple Inc. has offered suggestions that its beta builds should only be installed on secondary devices or to the ones which are dedicated to software development.
That being said, even though Apple chose this year to rename OS X to macOS, the update isn't that significant. As the update only showcased a few notable user-facing changes, which includes Universal Clipboard support, Siri for Mac as well as Picture-in-Picture support, according to IDownload Blog.
