Popular leakster Evan Blass took to his Twitter handle (@evleaks) Saturday, July 23 to make a much-awaited revelation centering on Apple iPhone 7 release date.

According to Blass - an acclaimed Android phones and iPhones tipster - Apple is all set to announce this year's iPhone on September 12, which seems to coincide with the September 9 announcement of the iPhone 6S. Apparently, the Cupertino-based tech firm is sticking to a mid-September announcement and will start shipping by the end of the month.

The revelations led to confusion among Apple fans as to whether or not the week of September 12 referred to the product's unveiling or a launch event. Blass didn't waste too much clearing things up as he published a follow-up tweet Sunday, July 24 to address any sort of confusion.

He clarified that the September 12 date referred to the retail release and not the launch event. What's worth noting here is that Blass does not dub the upcoming iPhone as "iPhone 7," he instead refers to it as "iPhone 2016," hinting Apple may decide not to attach a digit to this year's new class. Blass also didn't refer to this year's iPhones the iPhone 7 when he reportedly revealed the two models' internal codenames Tuesday, July 19 via Twitter.

Apple has followed a "tick-tock" release pattern which implied every redesigned number model i.e. 3G, 4, 5 or 6 will be followed by an "S" model the following year, Mashable reported.

That said, it looks like Apple will break from this trend this year and release its new iPhones that will closely resemble the iPhone 6S. The purported iPhone 7 will boast cleaned up antenna lines, upgraded internals and a larger camera hump to make room for an improved camera.

If rumors doing rounds are anything to go by, Apple is saving a full blast overhaul for next year's iPhones, which will be in sync with iPhone's 10th anniversary.

How Much Will The iPhone 7 / 2016 Cost?

The iPhone will reportedly be up for grabs starting at £539 for either a 16 GB or 32 GB model, PC Advisor reported.

Apple is known for not responding to such speculations centering on impending releases. Until the company either confirm or debunk these rumors, fans are advised to take them with a grain of salt.
