Google Nexus 2016 Release Date Continue To Remain A Mystery While Leak For HTC-Made 'Marlin' Surfaces Online!
ByImitating Apple's new iPhone launch strategy, Google for the first time in its history, unveiled two new Nexus smartphones last year including the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. Regrettably, the search engine giant's first attempt flopped. But if the most recent rumors that hint a major new update proved to be true, things are about to change.
In 2015, Google took the wraps off the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P and it didn't take too long to realize that Google looked up at the Nexus 6P as its flagship device in terms of hardware.
Packed with more RAM, a better processor, more storage, better cameras arrangement and comparatively higher screen resolution, the Nexus 6P seemed to justify the tech firm's decision at the time, BGR reported.
Things have changed drastically this year though as Google seem to have learned its lesson.
In a bid to avoid the same mistake, Google will reportedly launch the HTC Sailfish (Nexus 5X successor) and HTC Marlin (Nexus 6P successor) packed with the same specifications.
That's exactly what the Cupertino-based tech giant does with its iPhones, which are nearly identical except for the fact that the bigger iPhone model boasts a larger screen and battery, better resolution, and optical image stabilization.
A slew of online tech publications have continued to report leaked specs for Sailfish and Marlin.
According to a recently surfaced leak in this series, the purported (Nexus 6P successor) Marlin will be a copy of the Sailfish. The device will still boast better resolution, however that's simply because this is the larger of the two forthcoming Nexus smartphones, Android Police reported.
Check out the leaked hardware details for Marlin below:
- Manufacturer: HTC
- Powered by: Quad-core Qualcomm processor
- Display: 5.5" QHD (2560x1440) AMOLED
- USB-C port
- Camera: 12-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front snapper
- Fingerprint scanner: rear-mounted
- RAM: 4 GB
- Battery: 3450mAh
- Bottom-firing speakers
- Storage: 32/128GB
- Bluetooth: 4.2
Further revising its previously leaked specs for Sailfish, the tech publication reported that the rumored Nexus 5X successor will come with an AMOLED display panel as well, but at 1080p resolution.
As far as pricing details and launch dates are concerned, they continue to be a mystery.
Beside, no pictures for either phone have surfaced online recently. Nevertheless, the launch for both the devices could be in the cards with HTC prepping two of the most anticipated Android phone of this year.
