Looks like a good news for the owners of the HTC Desire 820 as Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update has finally started rolling out for the smartphone. The mid-range Android based smartphone from the Taiwanese tech giant, HTC started receiving the updated Marshmallow version by over-the-air updates.

Aside from bringing Android version 6.0.1 to the Desire 820 smartphone, this update brings Sense 7.0 UI as well. The update began rolling out on Friday, May 13 bringing HTC's 2014 smartphone from Android Lollipop to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, reported by GSMArena.

However, considering the update is being distributed in phases, some users may need to wait a little longer than the others before it actually hits their device. Those who prefer, can manually check for the update by following the simple steps below:

1) Go to Settings
2) Tap "About"
3) Tap "Software Information"

Alternatively, users can also opt to automatically download and install updates for their phones by following the aforementioned steps and choosing either auto-download system updates, app updates or both.

The latest update brings a slew of benefits of Android Mashmallow including the enhanced Google Now on Tap, better app permissions that helps in controlling the data a user shares with the apps, and the Doze mode to hibernate apps running in the background when the smartphone is kept idle for a long time.

Just quickly flashing on the specs of the HTC Desire 820 - it sports a 5.5-inch HD screen aptly augmented with 1,280 x 720 pixels resolution. The handset is powered by the Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM.

One of the most important feature that comes with the update is the ability to shift apps to the microSD, thus making it possible for users to free up space on their phones, reported by BGR.

Currently, it's unclear exactly which regions are slated to get or getting the updates.
