Police have arrested the primary suspect in the Wayne Community College (WCC) shooting Monday morning.

According to the Associated Press, Kenneth Morgan Stancil III was sleeping on Daytona Beach in Florida when a patrol officer found him. The man suspected of shooting and killing one Ron Lane in Goldsboro, N.C. is now facing extradition to Wayne County, where he will face a murder charge.

A Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue spokeswoman told the AP an officer approached Stancil because he was in violation of the beach's no sleeping ordinance.

"Our officer did a well-being check on the subject and woke him up," Tamra Marris said. "Initially the subject had a knife on him and was ordered to put the knife down. The subject complied with the officer's orders and the subject was apprehended without incident."

The Goldsboro Police Department (GPD) is planning a press conference for Tuesday to "discuss the details of Stancil's capture," the News-Argus reported. The GPD is currently working on his extradition.

Stancil, 20, is a former student at WCC, but did not complete his degree and Lane was his boss in a work-study program. Stancil was apparently fired from his job in Lane's print shop. His mother Debbie told WNCN Lane "made inappropriate sexual advances toward" her son.

Law enforcement in Wayne County said Monday at a press conference they could not determine Stancil's motive, but said the alleged shooting was isolated and not random. The school was placed on lockdown Monday morning, but no one else was even reported injured.

Classes at WCC were cancelled for the rest of the day, but were scheduled to resume Tuesday, with counseling services available to students.
