Baylor University has been recognized for its living-learning environment, ranking among the top 10 in the US, surpassing many larger and smaller institutions. In addition, they are at no. 1 in Texas, the Big 12, and among large private universities.

The university offers students several on-campus living options that are tailored to their needs and interests. Freshman students can apply to live in First-Year Communities such as those found in the Collins and Penland halls and share their residence with other students in the campus who are similarly freshmen from distinct majors and hobbies. Upper-classmen can also join the Upper Division Communities found within University Parks, and North Village which is often an apartment-style type of environment for them.

However, Baylor Edu reported that among the distinctive features of Baylor are the Living-Learning Communities or LLCs that focus on a particular academic or extracurricular interest. For instance, in the Science & Health LLC or the Business & Innovation LLC, students live among their peers with similar passions while engaging in programs and classes tailored to immerse them in these areas of interest further.

Faculty-led residential colleges, such as the Honors Residential College, offer further academic experiences and personal development through faculty-student interaction. The university also has faculty-in-residence and resident chaplains, in whom Baylor professors and chaplains live in residence halls to mentor and guide, and who provide spiritual support, with this being another very hands-on way to cultivate a sense of belonging and reinforce Baylor's Christian mission of holistic development for students.

What makes Baylor special is how it can combine a tight-knit community feel with a major research university context. First-year experience recognition and powerful teaching and research programs at Baylor only serve to further solidify Baylor's reputation as a special place for students looking for a well-rounded and meaningful college experience.
