A university shooting strikes again in an Alabama-based university, ending with more than 10 casualties on campus.

According to NBC News, the homecoming celebration was cut short when a shooting took place around 1:40 AM in a campus parking lot, the place where a large crowd gathered for the occasion. The shooter killed one, an 18-year-old non-university student, and injured 16 others.

The suspect, 25-year-old Jaquez Myrick, was quickly arrested. He will now face charges related to possession of a machine gun. He remains a suspect at the moment after authorities found him leaving the scene with a handgun modified to fire as a machine gun.

In a video by CNBC, people took cover behind vehicles as soon as the gunfire erupted. Per visitors, it sounded as if there were multiple shooters, and the gunfire continued for several minutes with brief pauses.

Out of 16 who sustained injuries, 12 immediately needed hospital treatment due to being shot directly, while the 4 suffered wounds unrelated to the shooter's gunfire.

Following the shooting, Tuskegee University has now canceled all classes for Monday and will be setting up grief counseling services in the campus chapel to assist students affected by the tragedy.
