An American University student who was reported missing for nearly four days has been found safe and in a 'secure location'
"We want to thank everyone who helped throughout this process," Kris Emmanuel Estrada's friends wrote in a social media post Monday afternoon. "... We have literally never seen such an outpour of love and community, and neither of us take it for granted. Our deepest gratitude to all those who reposted the graphics, who prayed for his return, and who did everything they could to bring him home."
They also asked that the family be given privacy at this time.
"We are thankful to share that the student reported missing yesterday has been safely located," Vice President of Student Affairs Raymond Ou and Assistant Vice President of University Police Service and Emergency Management Phil Morse told the university's student newspaper The Eagle. "We are continuing to provide support to the student and family."
Estrada, 19, was reported missing on Sunday by friends who say they lost contact with him on Thursday.
He had been last seen near a Wagshal's market on New Mexico Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., on Thursday around 4:45 p.m. His last reported location was Rockville, Maryland, at 5:30 p.m. the same day.
