As expected, Apple announced the next version of macOS at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2017 event. Apple's new desktop operating system carries the name macOS High Sierra.

The macOS High Sierra brings an improved file system as well as updates to core macOS apps. Developers can now grab the developer beta of the macOS High Sierra. Meanwhile, Apple fans can an sign up for a public beta of Apple's new desktop operating system that will go live later this month, Tech Crunch reported.

Nevertheless, the MacOS High Sierra operating system is the successor to macOS Sierra, which was announced last year. Although, the MacOS High Sierra is packed with new features, Apple's new desktop operating has hilarious Twitter reactions, Perez Hilton reported.

In spite of that, Apple's Senior VP of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, stated that developers who want to link the power of machine learning and generate immersive VR content on Apple's Mac can get important forward-looking technologies as well as new opportunities in the macOS High Sierra. Federighi also said that macOS High Sierra's core technology innovations are combined with the company's advances in hardware, and it pushes the Mac forward in exciting new ways.

Furthermore, MacOS has High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) support. This feature will be new Macs' hardware accelerated and integrated into apps, such as the Final Cut video editing software.

In terms of graphics, the tech giant also announced its second version of graphics-rendering framework, the Metal 2. Although the focal point is mostly on graphics speed, but the Metal 2 can now be utilized to speed up GPU's machine learning workloads.
