EA DICE has some big news for its millions of gaming fans this week. The studio's military shooter franchise "Battlefield 1" has just achieved a major milestone, reaching over 19 million players at the end of March. The game developer made the huge announcement at the recent company's conference call.

The Redwood City, California-based Electronic Arts have made an excellent run in the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2017, a record-breaking year for the American gaming behemoth. In the company's recent conference earning calls for the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2017 (FY 2017), revenue, gross margin, earnings and cash flow were all getting high, driven mainly by strong and continuing player engagement across the studio's vast portfolio of top-quality gaming titles, Seeking Alpha reported.

The studio's recent conference earning call also has shown to the business world the triumphant status and success of the popular first-person shooter game "Battlefield 1." The WW1 shooter game continued its outstanding start and unstoppable advance, reaching more than 19 million players at the end of FY 2017. That's a huge 50 percent jump over the previous entry "Battlefield 4" in the same launch period, Eurogamer reported.

The fifteenth installment in the "Battlefield" series has managed to grow around 50 percent faster than the previous entry "Battlefield 4" did through the same period of time. For EA, the figure is very important because big gaming companies like EA rely mostly on recognizable like the "Battlefield 1" for a significant portion of their revenues.

And it's not just about revenue driver, the huge growth of Battlefield 1 is also a great sign that some prior missteps and technical issues have not hampered the growth of the WW1 franchise. The previously launched "Battlefield 4" was critically acclaimed at its launch, but it had a number of technical issues that plagued it for months and turned many 'Battlefield" fans off of the game series.

Additionally, the studio has even announced plans to leverage the popular "Battlefield" name with a half-step sequel that focused on police and armed robbers. However, the half-step sequel, which was named "Hardline," did not have the tech and gameplay advancements that many hardcore fans are looking for a new Battlefield entry. As a result, that game has not caught some attention in the gaming world.

In addition to the big announcement, EA CEO Andrew Wilson has also confirmed that "new Battlefield experiences" are coming in FY2019 and beyond. This also means that the new "Battlefield" game might be launch in October 2018, Wccftech reported.

As for the upcoming DLC expansion, "Battlefield 1" fans are expected to get the full details on the upcoming "In The Name Of The Tsar" DLC expansion pack in the much-awaited EA Play next month. The new expansion will add a new frozen-covered eastern battlefield map along with a vast Russian army to the game.

EA DICE's "Battlefield 1" is the first main entry in the "Battlefield" game series since "Battlefield 4." This high- action first-person shooter is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
