It has been a year and a half since Surface Pro line received a major update and finally, the wait is over as the first credible information has been revealed. This revelation is will provide a better picture what to expect for the Surface Pro 5 which is also reportedly making an official launching in the coming weeks.

According to TheVerge, Surface Pro 5's first details has been revealed by a Microsoft Bandit by the name of Paul Thurrott. Through his official Twitter account, the leaker claimed that the Surface Pro 5 will not change the proprietary Surface power connector and Microsoft's next laptop-tablet hybrid will tap the services of Intel's latest Kaby Lake processors.

This Surface Pro 5 update is somewhat disappointing to learn since something better is expected after more than a year of waiting. Thus, the upcoming device is simply a refreshed version with a new processor.

Thurrott description suits Surface Pro 5 perfectly well as "nothing dramatic." This leaker has been known for bringing accurate news and updates regarding Microsoft device. Therefore, many news outlets deem his claims as credible, ArsTecnica, noted.

Back with the Surface Pro 5, the confirmation of Intel Kaby Lake processors for the latest Surface Pro came without a surprise since it has been hyped for over a year already. Meanwhile, a new hardware announcement could have been better mentioned.

On the other hand, Surface Pro 5's plan to retain the proprietary Surface Connect power connector instead of having the USB-C Type spec does not guarantee that the device would switch to its DisplayPort. Moreover, the Microsoft decision to maintain its own connector line is predictable in the previous Surface Pro line.

Meanwhile, there is no mention of Surface Pro 5's release date and other important details. Thus, it is still better to wait for Microsoft's official announcement in case journalist Paul Thurrott missed out on some Surface Pro 5 bits.
