Microsoft has now started to get more serious about the company's cloud-based applications. Microsoft this week announce a new Data Governance and Threat Intelligence tools for its cloud-based productivity software, Microsoft Office 365. The company made the big announcement this week.

In a recent post on the company's Office Blogs, the Redmond-based software company has just announced the general availability of Microsoft Office 365 Advanced Data Governance and Threat Intelligence tools. The two newly added features will goes live starting April 4. Both Office 365 tools have been in preview mode since they were first introduced at the recent RSA 2017 event.

For a starter, Advanced Data Governance provides Office customers with robust compliance capabilities. The feature uses machine learning technology to retain critical data that can be useful for the organization. The company has also provided a new policy management interface for Data Loss Protection that will ensure Office 365 customers compliant and in control of their data.

Office 365's Threat Intelligence provides actionable insights on global attack trend and also tools to determine the severity of security threats. It uses data provided by Microsoft Intelligent Security Graph, which collects and analyzes tons of data points from various sources that have a profound impact on the Microsoft Office 365 environment.

Additionally, the company is also launching a new reporting interface for Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) reports. The goal is to provide data on insights, trends and security threats. This newly added security feature is now available in the Microsoft Office 365 Security and Compliance Center, Microsoft said

In addition to the newly revealed APT reporting interface, the software company has also added some enhancements to the Office 365 management capabilities, which include a new Microsoft Graph reporting APIs. This new tool is actually a search-powered service that underlines Office 365 applications, and can be also used by IT admins and software vendors to push Office 365 data into reports or software tools, the RedmondMag reported.

The new reporting tools will replace Microsoft's previous tool Office 365 Reporting Web Service APIs, which are used to integrate Lync Online activities with e-mail, spam and antivirus activities. Microsoft has already announced the end date for the Office 365 Reporting Web Service APIs, which has been set on Oct. 1, 2017.

However, this newly added tools can only be accessed by the user with global admin or product admin rights for Microsoft tools such as Exchange, Skype for Business and SharePoint, according to Microsoft.
