The updated Samsung Gear VR 2017 headset, which was initially revealed at Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC) event, will come along with a refreshed exterior design. Under the hood, the updated Samsung Gear VR features revamped specs, such as the distortion correction technology and an upgraded lens resolution. Nonetheless, the Samsung Gear VR 2017 now ships with a controller, according to Mashable.
The updated Samsung Gear VR 2017 will also come along with an Oculus designed controller that couples with the headset. The controller of the new Gear VR is designed around a clickable touchpad that a user controls with their thumb and also brings a trigger button as well as other in-app functionality controls.
Nonetheless, the executive vice president of Samsung's mobile business Lee Young-hee, made it known that the updated Samsung Gear VR 2017 headset will be a part of the tech titan's smartphone experience. In spite of that, as the updated Gear VR is still under way, Young-hee did not specify if the new Gear VR will have to be tethered to a desktop or if the VR headset can be used entirely on its own, CNET reported.
Tech fans can also purchase the new Gear VR controller on its own for $39. The Gear VR and remote control will be free to a person who pre-orders the Samsung Galaxy S8. The new Gear VR and the Galaxy S8 will fire up the market on April 21. That being the case, tech fans are advised to be a little more careful when using the Samsung Gear VR controller.
