Police officers have initiated an investigation in search of the missing 20-year-old, York St. John University student.
Megan Roberts was last seen 2:00 a.m., Thursday partying with friends at Popworld bar in George Hudson Street in York. Once the party was over, a North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said that all of them departed to their destinations.
When Roberts didn't turn up that night, her friends tried calling and texting her but they did not receive any response. Her friends found this behavior suspicious and contacted her mother after Roberts failed to show up for lectures.
Jackie Roberts, Megan's mother said that she hasn't been home since Wednesday night. She eventually reported the incident to the police.
North Yorkshire police officials said that it is 'very out of character' for the fine arts student to just disappear. The officials also said that Roberts hasn't been active on social media since Wednesday night, Mirror Reports.
Andy Farrar, Inspector of North Yorkshire Police, said that currently they are looking at CCTV footage to find some clues on Roberts' disappearance.
"At the moment it is purely a missing from home enquiry, there is nothing to suggest anything else. We are in the early stages of the investigation. We are searching the local area in relation to the places where she lives and who she was out with. We are doing the preliminary investigation and speaking to the last people she saw," Yorkshire Post reports.
Roberts is around 5ft 6in tall, medium build with long dark brown hair. She was last seen wearing a cream knee length, brown and orange floral print dress and black shoes. Anyone with any information has been asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1 and pass the information to the Force Control Room.
"Please raise awareness. There are some very concerned friends and family that just want to see her return home safe! Devastating to see such a happy face of a very close friend when it is involved with a missing persons investigation please if anybody knows anything contact the police. Every small detail will help to get her safely home," Rockie Alanah Thorley, Robert's friend, stated on Facebook.
