Blizzard has revealed that "StarCraft Remastered" will become a reality, and it will launch this coming summer for PC. They also revealed that "StarCraft 2" season 2 maps are now available.

Remaster becomes reality

After a few hints in several fan circles on the internet, Blizzard has finally announced that their hit real time strategy game "StarCraft" will get its Remastered version. According to the official website of the remastered PC game, this new version will feature several new upgrades that will cater the old and the new players alike.

New resolutions and audio upgrade

"StarCraft Remastered" will feature 4K graphics and cutscenes that run at 1080p. The new resolution will allow players to see more details of the game and it will display more of the map compared to the original one. Its audio will also get a big upgrade to complete the gameplay experience.

New online multiplayer support

With the introduction of online multiplayer these days, especially with the Blizzard Games, "StarCraft Remastered" will also have the same online multiplayer support through the Blizzard app. This will allow players to play against each other around the world.

Original gameplay intact

Many fans of the original PC game are worried that the remastered version will have alterations to its gameplay, which will not happen. Blizzard assured them that there will be many changes coming to the new version, but tweaks to the gameplay will not be among it.

Originals for free

Blizzard also revealed that the original "StarCraft" and its expansion "Brood War" will be available for free at the end of March when the game receives its new update version 1.18. The original will also be compatible with the remastered version, so when players who download the game when it becomes free can then transfer their data right away after purchasing the new version later.

"StarCraft 2" season 2 maps update

In other "StarCraft" related news, Blizzard has announced that "StarCraft 2" will have a quick update on the season 2 map selection process. According to the official forums of the video game, the next season's pool will have Ascension to Aiur, Sequencer, Blood Boil, Defender's Landing, Odyssey, Abyssal Reef, and Proxima Station.
