Android Wear 2.0 Features
Android Wear 2.0 is considered to be putting an end to the long dry spell in smartwatch industry because of its new loads of features that could make smartwatches more functional than before. According to Slash Gear, standalone apps is the most notable feature of the software's recent upgrade which turns the smartwatch independent from smartphones.
In relation to that, the standalone apps allows the users to download applications directly from on-watch Play Store but it will need an internet connection and location tracking through the help of GPS hardware. Another interesting thing about the Android Wear 2.0 is the integration of another Nougat-based feature called Google Assistant which makes the wearable highly independent and functional.
Lastly, Android Wear 2.0 also uses darker colors for low battery consumption and has a pre-installed Google Fit smartwatch app to support more fitness-related activities. Recently, Fossil has rolled out the OS to Fossil Q Wonder, Q Founder 2.0 and Q Marshall.
Google Assistant for Android Tablets
Google Assistant has recently rolled out to most Android phones available in the market but updates on tablets remain impending. According to The Verge, Google is planning for a different Google Assistant interface on devices with bigger screens which probably causes the delay.
On the other hand, another speculation suggest that Google might be planning a rollout in a phased manner due to the voluminous number of active Android devices. In fact, in the end of February, Google has just started rolling out Google Assistant to Android phones in some English-speaking countries.
Meanwhile, Android tablet owners are advised to wait for the final schedule of rollout to their respective devices. Google Assistant is a Nougat-based feature that pulls out some interfaces which makes the user's lives easier.
