Redmi Pro 2 is tipped to launch this month and the details revealed how it is a fierce competitor for Asus Zenfone 3.

Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 price, specs

Xiaomi prepares another flagship for March release. Aside from the heavily rumored Mi 6, the Chinese company will reportedly unveil Redmi Pro 2 in the coming weeks. Previously, the Pro was rumored to get Snapdragon 660 series but the latest revealing seems to tell differently. Redmi Pro 2 is said to use Helio P25 chip under the hood. This isn't all bad since the octa-core CPU is a decent processor clocked at 2.5 GHz. It's also paired with ARM Mali T880MP4 graphics.

Xiaomi is expected to launch two models, 4 GB RAM paired with 64 GB internal storage; and 6 GB RAM with 128 GB storage. Redmi Pro 2 reminds us of ASUS Zenfone 3 which packs similar hardware choices except that Zenfone 3 uses a Snapdragon chip.

A new detail from Indian Express suggests that Xiaomi will equip the Pro with dual rear camera. This will be an upgrade that's also an attack to Zenfone 3's impressive 16 MP camera. Zenfone 3 series is best known for its big battery and the camera software. To put into perspective, Xiaomi smartphone will feature 12 MP sensor for the rear shooter

Redmi Pro 2 will likely be unveiled ahead of Mi 6 according to reports. Although the Pro isn't as premium as Mi 6, but hype for Redmi Pro variant is still high due to the choice of specs packed with affordable price. GSM Arena noted that Redmi Pro 2 will sport a metal body with 2.5 curved glass display. As for the price, the base model will sell for $231 and the high end edition will be offered at around $260.

There has been no official word from Xiaomi but the Redmi Pro 2 is expected to launch at a later date this month.
