The hype is concentrated surround the iPad Pro 2 while giving a little attention to the iPad Mini 5. There's been a debate on Apple's upcoming tablet. It could be named differently or it could be discontinued.
Albeit the scarce detail on the device, according to Droid Report, Apple could unveil iPad Mini 5 alongside iPad Pro 2 in April but the media suggests that the mini model could be named iPad Mini Pro instead.
Furthermore, the report goes on to say that a few expected new features include IP68 certified, which means, the next iPad Mini will be water resistant. It is also plausible for iPad Mini 5 to sport 3D Touch technology if Apple does refresh the iteration.
There is no authorized information that could corroborate all rumors around iPad Mini 5. In fact, many have come to believe that Apple will discontinue the smallest iPad variant in favor of the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro.
Specs-wise, iPad Mini 5 (or Mini Pro) will likely have a few improvements but Apple could reduce the capacity for the sake of a slimmer design. It's reported that the tablet will rock at least 5,100 mAh battery.
Moreover, it will likely follow iPhone 7 path that arrives without any headphone jack. Apple Pay could be integrated in the iPad Mini 5 but it will need NFC support. The optic is said to receive no gain from its predecessor due to the budget concern.
However, the smallest variant will be more durable with the new 7000-series aluminum chassis.
Reports have hinted at an iPad Pro model replacing the Mini. The 9.7-inch tablet is the most eligible candidate to replace iPad Mini 5 since it will have a relatively low price and average specifications compared to the 10.5-inch or the 12.9- inch iPads, PC Advisor noted.
iPad Mini 5 will reportedly be announced on April 4 along with iPad refreshes at Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park.
