Android OS tops the mobile smartphone market as it claims more than 53 percent of share. However, it is a 2 percent lower than the previous result. How does it compare to Apple iOS?
Android OS is still ruling in US
The latest report conducted by ComScore found that Android OS tops the market share with nearly 53 percent followed by Apple iOS. It reveals that Google-developed mobile OS is 8.6 ahead of iOS. As both Apple and Google each takes a large bite - Windows and BlackBerry OS see a stagnant result with low numbers of 2.7 percent and 0.8 percent respectively, the report revealed .
Google may dominate the US market but it is apparently two notches down below the previous result. Fans have quickly added a speculation to the matter. A few members in GSM Arena forum claimed that Galaxy Note 7 recall could contribute to Android OS market share drop
Nonetheless, the report indicates that iOS is moving on a slow pace, lagging behind Android OS. Phone Arena has learned that this year's iOS market share will depend on how Apple sells its iPhone 8 this year. Should there be a significant growth, Apple iOS market share will likely move forward passing Android operating system.
Android vs iOS
Android and iOS fans never get along well. There have been publications that suggest one is better than the other for a lot of reasons.
For instance, Android is lauded for its open-source ecosystem while Apple is more restrictive with its closed OS. It never gives such 'flexibility' to its iOS but it is also seen as an advantage for Apple loyalists as all of the devices have a more secured system - unless it is jailbroken.
As far as the price is concerned, Android smartphones have always been more affordable than the iPhone. For a price of iPhone 7, a person can opt for an ultimately fast Android smartphone with huge screen.
