Hideo Kojima's "Death Stranding" is indeed developing one big project. With the casting of director Guillermo del Toro, Reedus ("The Walking Dead") and Mad Mikkelsen ("Hannibal"), more surprises for the fans are yet to come.

For starters, "Death Stranding" is the latest role-playing video game that has been under Kojima Productions. As of writing, what is known so far is that game is still in the development stage. Adding on, the first three confirmed cast are de Toro, Reedus and Mikkelsen.

Until now, there has been no other information about how the game will roll out and what will be its plot. Though, obviously, with its first two trailers released, it looks like Reedus' character will deal with some supernatural creatures and one of them is Mikkelsen. The latter will play as the main antagonist of the game.

Other characters are yet to be disclosed. In Kojima's interview with Playstation, he refuses to reveal other Hollywood stars who are part of the project. However, rumor has it that the said celebrities could be Kevin Durand, Emma Stone, and Idris Elba.

Meanwhile, speaking of the cast, many fans have been wondering why Kojima chooses Reedus to play the protagonist.

"When I went independent and I was thinking about my first game in my head, I did see Norman playing this character," says Kojima. "The visuals of this character were based on using Norman Reedus as the precedent."

It is a well-known fact that Kojima should be teaming up with del Toro and Reedus in "Silent Hills". However, the game developer departs with Konami and decided to work on "Death Stranding" independently. As a result, his "Silent Hills" collaboration with these two men did not pan out.

As for the other details, Trusted Reviews reveals "Death Stranding" gameplay. Based on the report, the trailer shows "connecting strands" type of a video game. It will certainly be an action-packed RPG but it will also go far beyond that.

Adding on, in Kojima's previous interview, he mentions that he is done making horror games. Meaning to say, though "Death Stranding" clearly suggests a dark-themed story, it will be scary but not to the extent that it will be a horror-themed game.

"Death Stranding" is slated for a 2018 release.
