Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is set to release its next flagship named Xiaomi Mi6. Talks around the rumor mill say the phone will be released on April 16.

A regular feature in the rumor mill, Xiaomi dubbed as China's Apple, was also tipped to be the first Chinese-made phone to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835. The good news is that the SoC will not be under-clocked as some rumors might suggest, GSM Arena reported.

The Snapdragon 835 features a 10-nanometer design that will make the most of the latest Qualcomm mobile chipset. Without underclocking the chip, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will benefit from its power and boost its performance.

It is expected that the Xiaomi Mi6 will come equipped with a 5.2-inch LCD display. It is also speculated that it will sport a camera system similar to that of the Sony Xperia XZ Premium. According to GizmoChina, the handset will also have a ceramic chassis variant with a 2.5D glass.

The camera would be a 19-megapixel unit positioned in the rear of the phone, others report it can be a 23MP. Accordingly, it would be capable of shooting 960 fps slow motion clips at 720p resolution. The base variant is reportedly going to cost $290, comes with 4GB RAM with 32GB internal storage.

The top-end variant has 128GB internal storage with a 6GB RAM, for $365. The price point might be low for a Snapdragon 835 but no one is complaining. Everything is still a rumor after all until the official announcement of the company is made known.

MWC 2017 had Sony announce that its Sony Xperia XZ Premium is the first phone to be outfitted with the Snapdragon 835. However, once the Xiaomi Mi6 does come out with Mi 6 in April, it will be the first handset to feature the Qualcomm SoC on the market. Let us wait and see if the Apple of China does push through with the Xiaomi Mi6 featuring one of the hottest chip on the market today.
