Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 13.3" Sets Pre-Christmas Launch With Updated Specs, Features Including 4G Connectivity [Video]
ByFresh from releasing its first laptop in July 2016, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is set to release yet another laptop, the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air, and will be unveiled on Dec. 23 in Beijing China.
The Mi Notebook Air successor will incorporate changes that have been added to the new variant including support for a reported 4G connectivity. However, The Financial Express reported it is still unclear what other specific and significant changes will be incorporated in the new Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air variant.
It is open knowledge that when Xiaomi first ventured into the computer market, its aim is to provide users with a cheaper alternative to Apple's MacBook Air. Xiaomi came out with two variants last July; a 12.5-inch and a 13.3-inch with both variants sporting full HD displays.
The earlier iteration of the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 13.3-inches is a Windows 10 machine that features and Intel i5 6200U CPU supported by a Nvidia 940MX graphics card with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and 256GB of solid-state storage with an additional SATA slot, which would allow the storage to be expanded up to 256GB. At the time of its release, the $750 laptop, touted like a MacBook Air with gaming hardware inside, c|net reported.
But this didn't stop Xiaomi to go ahead and updated Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air, however, it is unclear if there will be changes to its internals aside from it being capable of 4G connectivity not available in the previous iteration. It is too early to say if there would even be a CPU shift to Intel's current Kaby Lake chips.
A 4G model with a Kaby Lake CPU would most definitely affect Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air price points. However, we might not know for sure until the newly updated unit is unveiled on Dec. 23.
