It seems like Android 7.0 or "Nougat" will soon be phasing out as the boot animation of Android 8.0 or presumed as "Oreo" has been reportedly leaked online. Also, Google has revealed the status of the long rumored Andromeda OS.
Android 8.0 Release Date is Just Around the Corner
Senior Vice President of Android, Hiroshi Lockheimer has teased the Android community about Nougat's successor when he posted a cryptic video in his Twitter account that hinted what "O" in Android O stands for, Mashable reported. For this reason, Android fans have quickly presumed that Android 8.0 will be called "Oreo" and its release date is imminent.
The speculations about Android 8.0 have become stronger when the Android's boot animation has been reportedly leaked online specifically in the YouTube channel of Tech Burner. However, upon checking, the video appears to be just a concept that features four Oreo Cookies dunked in a milky liquid.
Meanwhile, there is no further information about Android 8.0 most especially on what new features and functionalities it will showcase. The mobile OS is expected to be launched during the Google I/O event which is slated on August.
There Will Be No Andromeda OS in the Future
Aside from Android 8.0, members of Android community are also waiting for Andromeda OS which is expected to be pre-installed in Chromebook Pixel 3. However, SlashGear reported that Google has already decided to end the Pixel laptop brand and no third version will be released which resulted to the uncertainty of Andromeda OS fate.
But Google SVP for Hardware Rich Osterloh said in an interview during the MWC 2017 that the decision to stop producing Google-made laptop has not something to do with the constantly criticized Chrome OS. In fact, Osterloh revealed that they are not closing their doors to the possibility of Andromeda OS.
